When Clive travels he always like to use the same Motel, especially if he finds a good one. In Armidale it's the Alluna Motel whilst in Mackay it's the Mid City Motel. This Motel is located adjacent to the Pioneer River at the end of MacAlister Street, so it's just a walk along the street to the office. It has it's own restaurant, pool and Clive even manages to get the same room mosts times he visits, as he is generally there for at least a week.

One weekend Gai flew up to spend time with me and we went out for a lovely dinner at the recently completed Mackay Marina. We had a beautiful meal and ate too much.

The Pioneer River is over 120km long and flows through Mackay. Due to tidal movements it's possibe to walk out over the flats into the middle of the river as you can see from the pictures. Not all the flats are exposed as it's still possible to navigate the river by boat at low tide.
