It was great to spend some time at home. It gave us a chance to do some gardening, especially the front garden as this was definitely the worst one in the street. We'd cut a palm down on the furtherest side of the driveway so that we could get the boat in. The people that had the house before us had some vegetables and a lemon tree growing out the front and we decided that these had to go.

We also had extreme fire danger weather and a grass fire that was started in Carrara by the M1 burnt all the way through to Gooding Drive and beyond. Someone had throwna cigarette but out and this had gone into the flood drain. With this and the strong winds it managed to go around the back of the German Club and spread along the flood plain. It jumped the road near the Braeside Wedding Chapel. it burnt out all the vegetation around the Chapel, leaving it standing, and missed the house also. The road was closed as thick smoke from the smouldering grass made it impossible to see .
