The Tablelands behind Cairns are really some of the most beautiful areas that can be found. The many waterfalls, streams and rain forests are a sight to be hold. The country has green pastures with cows grazing that give way to lush tropical rain forests.

Mallanda falls.
Note the 1967 flood level on the shelter.

That's the main road
in the background.

From the falls the water
continues it's journey.

These falls flow into a
swimming pool with picnic area.

Ellinjaa Falls. You walk down many
steps to get to these ones.

You can hear the water long before you
can see it through the rain forest.

the water was freezing to me
but that doesn't stop tourists swimming there.

Lake Eacham. The water here is bright blue
and this lake sits a top a volcano.

The lake is huge
with ample picnic areas.

You can see lizards on the waters edge
and also turtles in the water.

You can take a cruise on the lake
if you have enough time. I didn't.
