Friday 25th December
It's Christmas day and feels warmer today. Clive went off to Mass for a 9am service. The Catholic Church is located near
where we stayed on our last visit back in 2009. It was built in 1959 and the Presbytery is next door to the church.
They also have plenty of land for a school but this will never be built as there is no current need for a Catholic School.
There are about two hundred parishioners on the island with only about ten percent attending church. Originally named
'The Sacred Heart' it was re-dedicated in 1988 to be St. Phillip Howard Catholic Church and is administered by St. Mary's
Cathedral in Sydney.
After Mass it was time for the plane spotting which was to become an important part of the daily routine. Clive went out
for a short walk up the road to the airfield and back.
Home made roast chicken for tea with potatoes and vegetables. Clive had fun with the gas oven, so what would normally
have taken about 90 minutes ended up taking two and a half hours, but at least we had a lovely meal to eat.
Weather was cloudy with a few spots of rain of rain and warmer, hot through the day.
