Saturday 26th December
The day started with the usual plane spotting by Clive. He sits out on the verandah with the camera ready waiting for
the white car to drive along the runway. This is his indication that the plane is about 10 minutes away. Gotta love
these busy airports.
We found an Agatha Christie book in the bookcase here to read. Titled 'The Body In The Library' it was originally
printed in 1942 and this edition was published in 1968. This copy was originally owned by the V.R.I. - the Victorian
Railway Institute which had it's own library.
Clive went for a walk today around Puppy Point. Then a drive down to Anson Bay which is in the top North West of the
Island. Clive noticed some noise over the cliffs and being high up wondered what it was. There were people swimming
down there on the beach. On the opposite cliff to him was a track that you went down to get to the beach.
A trip then onto Point Howe and then into the National Park to the Captain Cook Monument. There was a track named
the Bridle Track that he then went walking on. This went down into a small rain forest area and then up the hill
on the other side that overlooks the Captain Cook lookout. It was very windy up there. Lichen could be seen growing
on the trees and this is an indication of how good the air quality is. Generally it grows to about ten centimeters
in length.
On the way back, a quick stop at the Selwyn Bridge marker and then to the Headstone Reserve. A lovely green reasonably
flat spot overlooking the ocean but with big yellow warning signs about checking for Argentine Ants.
The camera tripod finally got some use as Clive tried to take some photos of the moon.
Lovely big tiger prawns for tea.
Weather cooler ranging from 19 - 25.
