December Home Page
With Charlee being baptised late December we decided that we would fly mum up here so that she could attend. In the end the flights we could get
on the reward points were from the 19th December to the 8th January 2019 - so Nan would be here for about 3 weeks. Two holidays on the Gold Coast
this year for here.
On the 8th December in the middle of the night Gai had a fall in the bathroom. She badly hurt her arm and was also complianing about her
back hurting. I helped her get up off the floor and onto the bed and called the ambulance as the bleeding from her arm would not stop. Another
trip in the ambulance and admittence to hospital. It turns out she had also broken her L1 in her spine, so me lifting her up off the floor
was not a very bright thing to do. Two weeks in hospital - one on basic bed rest and then rehab again the other week and she was allowed home
for Christmas.
Her arm was a real mess and they were concerned that they would have to do a skin graft if it didn't heal properly but thankfully this was
not required in the end. Daily dressing changes in hospital and then visits to the local GP every few days when she was released until it
stopped weeping.
On the 21st December we had a major power outage with power off for over 24 hours. Clive emptied most of the stuff from the freezer and fridge and
took it all up to Michael's as we'd just bought all the food for Christmas. Talk about bad timing. In the end nothing got spoilt so we were
very luckly.
Christmas day was a quiet affair with Mass, a light lunch and dinner. We opened a bottle of gold flecked sparkling wine and Nan got stuck into
that. She ended up drinking more then either Gai or I. We also did some baking ot make some cheese straws. These were first made when I was in school.
