Packing up the house continues with Gai doing the paperwork while I do the rest. It's amazing how much old paperwork we still have. Tax files from over 10 years ago. This will become a yearly throw out in future. When we do one year's tax, throw out the one that is now six years old.

I need to fix the termite damage so tackle the damaged wardrobe first. Upon getting the timber off it's not to0 bad, so I should be able to do this myself. Next to the garage sliding door.

Well, this is a lot worse than the bedroom. They have eaten through 2 studs that form the door frame as well as the next stud along. Thankfully the damage is only contained to the short section of wall. I discuss fixing this with Gai and decide that I really need a builder to do this properly. So I phone a guy we have used in the past and he comes and quotes $1500.00. We think that this is a bit excessive for probaby 3/4 of a days work and there is very little materials required.

I find an advert in the local paper and this guy come out and quotes $550.00. Now this is the sort of price that we were thinking. I'll do all the painting, as I need to paint the garage anyway. So David comes back a few days later and gets the job done for us. Only took him just under 3/4 of a day. When we were travelling in May I get a phone call from a gentleman asking for a reference about David as he has quoted on some work for him. A job well done for us and so gladly had a chat with this guy.

Still doing work around the church and attending the working bees. Most of the jobs that I do, have now been taken over by others, so it's just the fine tuning of little things for the month. Looks like I'll be able to leave with everything under control.

With the removalists confirmed for May 1st, I start packing our clothes and food into the van as we'll need to sleep there from the 30th April. Cooking, washing, showering etc. is still going to happen in the house until we get Debb the cleaner in for the bond clean.

We also need to replace the carpet as it is rotten in some areas where we had water damage and it would be nice for the tenants to have good flooring. We decide on Carpet Call and they come out with samples for us. We'll go for timber in the hallway and main living areas and carpets in the all the other bedrooms. Total cost of just over $7500.00 and some of it was on special so a saving of around 30%. This will be laid on the 7th to 9th of May. When done we're sure that it will look fantastic.
