The van park will have a BBQ lunch for the Melbourne Cup and everyone is invited. We just participate in the sweep and guess what. No winners for us,
but then why are we surprised.
The carpets get laid on time and the new ones look really good. Should be for the money. The old owners used to feed the magpies, as they have a
nest up in the palms. They keep swooping Clive. The cheeky things come right up to the back door and wait for food. They'll have a long wait as we
are not feeding them.
Michael and Jess came up for a visit to lend a hand and we all go out to lunch with her mum, Naomi and Alan at the Black Bear Restaurant. This is
owned by Dan and Steph of MKR, My Kitchen Rules fame. They have two restaurants here in the Bay. The food was delicious. I put Michael and Jess to work
with some unpacking of boxes. It's beginning to look like our home again.
They've brought up grand dog Teddy. Now still a puppy he can be trouble sometimes. Well, he's taken great delight in pulling out some bromeliads and
also jumped into the garden to start digging holes. Naughty boy.
We met a guy named Alan at the van park. He's a funny bugger. Clive got talking to him and gave him some of the excess curries that would not fit in
our freezer. He lives in his van full time and was heading off to Coffs Harbour. So we had him around for dinner before he left and as Clive says, "
There is no such thing as a free meal." He gave Clive a hand to hang the three largest Collit's pictures. Now never one to rush a job, the rest of the
pictures take many more months to hang.
We get a knock on the front door and it's a council worker. He's read our meter and thinks we have a water leak. I check that nothing is running and sure
enough, you can see the end dial moving. We thank him and run our own test. Yep - confirmed. We are using 120 litres in 90 minutes with everything
turned off. Just what we need!!! Time for a plumber. The earliest he can get here to do the job is Tuesday. Estimated cost is $1500.00
Clive has his routine colonoscopy on the Monday so that will work out well. Rather than try and find the leak it's suggested that the quickest and
easiest solution would be to put a new line in. Works for us. It takes a good half a day. The front hedge bush has to be cut down and the stump pulled
out. The new water line will travel up the grass parallel to the drive. Trench dug by machine. That was easy. Final cost. Just over $900.00.
We're having lunch on Thursday when I call out to Clive. He's passed out cold. I ring the neighbours and they say to ring an ambulance and they come over.
The senior paramedic was here before the ambos and working on Clive as they arrive. Seems that he has lost a lot of blood as he's been bleeding from the
colonoscory. What a mess! Our neighbours are lovely people. Jim's standing over him holding up the drip and Lyn is getting towels and clothes
organised to help clean up. I can't do a lot except direct them. Off to the local hospital and straight into RESUS. If you have ever watched the TV
show, 24 hours in emergency you will know what it's like. Lots of test and scans. Two units of blood later with a third on standby. He's operated on
after 6pm to stop the bleeding. An additional 4 clips were put in. He was a good boy and so they let him home late Friday afternoon.
We can't find the bolts for the dining table chairs or for our bed. Clive goes to Bunnings and gets some for the bed, but where the chair ones have
gone is a mystery. So after much searching, it off to buy some new ones, so we can sell the other dining room setting. You guessed it, the original
ones turn up two weeks later. Seems Clive had put them somewhere safe - in the top cupboard, when we started unpacking.
Michael and Jess got engaged and of course Teddy had to be in the pictures too!
